High-performance asphalt-based commercial roofing material that is cost-effective and extremely durable
Modified Bitumen (MB) is one of the most common low-slope roofing systems that offers impressive added protection against the elements.
What is it made of?
It’s an evolved version of asphalt roofing that creates a better seam and superior strength than traditional asphalt.
Extremely durable and flexible. It expands and contracts as temperatures shift without losing its shape, making it less likely to crack and create leaks in cold weather. It’s also tear- resistant thanks to the combination of fiberglass and/or polyester reinforcement layers.
In fact, Modified Bitumen has five layers of protection - it's one of the most trusted flat roofing systems used in the industry today.
Layer 1:
Insulation - Provides thermal resistance for temperature stability.
Layer 2:
Modified Base Sheets or Plies -This is the bottom waterproofing and reinforcement roofing layer.
Layer 3:
Modified Bitumen Membranes - Factory fabricated sheet membrane composed of co-polymer reinforced with polyester or fiberglass.
Layer 4:
Adhesive - Waterproofing material with a bonding agent applied either hot or cold. We offer a variety of choices for building owners including self-adhered, APP, SBS.
Layer 5:
Surfacing - Provides UV protection and weathering resistance.
Best yet, Modified Bitumen has exceptional solar-reflective properties, so your roof won’t absorb the sun’s heat, which in the end helps save you money on cooling expenses in the warmer months. It’s also eco-friendly and completely recyclable.
